Land resources of Ukraine, having economic, social, natural, cultural and historical significance, mainly are located within rural areas. Despite the fact that Ukraine has a significant land and resource potential of the territories, intensification of the use of land resources, in particular in agriculture, leads to the depletion of soil cover, land degradation and landscape destruction.
Revitalization is a set of urban and planning activities, coordinated by local self-government administration, aim of which is a social, architectural, planning and economical advantageous transformation of the specific area of the municipality, being in a state of crisis resulting from economic and social factors.

Rural-based economic activity can be just as effective for poverty reduction as that of urban sectors. Since the 1990s, rural transformation has lifted nearly as many people out of poverty as urban development. Many more will be able to climb out of poverty if greater priority is given to public investments in rural areas.
Rural households are displaced from their lands without any plan in place to resettle or compensate them, for a promise of improvement in their living standards. This has not only resulted in a decline in the living standard of the rural populace, in terms of loss of land and livelihoods, the poor are also further marginalized and impoverished.
