I am an experienced property lawyer and a Senior Research Associate for the Land & Accountability Research Centre at the University of Cape Town (LARC). I have a special interest in indigenous land rights in South Africa and the connection between indigenous rights, property law and dispossession. I presented a paper at the ‘Contested Histories’ workshop on the fiduciary duties of the state in state land trusts in post-colonial jurisdictions in 2016. I am also a member of the Collaboration of Alternatives think tank identifying consequences of legislation relating to land tenure in South Africa, identifying priority laws and assisting in formulating realistic and strategic interventions.
