In Vietnam, the lack of quality data in the forestry sector has been an obstacle to institutional reflection and effective policy formulation. This study analyzes the status and gaps of this data, and its implications for addressing poverty in Vietnam.
Up-to-date, accurate, reliable, and comparable data are an important requirement to develop appropriate policy. A recent study analyzed the status of data in Vietnam relating to forest resources, tenure, markets for forest products, and poverty, to acquire a better understanding of the availability, quality, and potential uses of forestry data from 1990 to 2005 in five focus areas.
