    In this paper we analyze the causal chain, from the driving forces to the state, impacts and system responses, for several present and past human activities related to land use and land degradation. The DPSIR framework approach is used for analysing and assessing land degradation problems within a comprehensive view of interactions between human society and the environment.

    In this 2012 edition of Moving Forward, FAO Forestry is pleased to present a selection of the work it undertook in the 2010-2011 biennium for the benefit of the global forestry community. The FAO Forestry Programme encompasses a vast range of activities and projects, of which this booklet presents only a sample. In all regions of the world, the Programme is helping to implement sustainable forest management and boost the livelihoods of forest-dependent people. It does this, in part, by improving information on forests.

    The Workshop on Governance of Tenure for Responsible Capture Fisheries was convened by the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department in collaboration with the Land Tenure Unit of the Natural Resources and Environment Department to generate inputs and guidance on the contents and process of developing fisheries sector specific implementation guidelines on the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security.

     この「世界食料農業白書2010-2011年報告」 は“農業における女性:開発に向けたジェン ダーギャップの解消”を主題としている。農 業部門は多くの開発途上国で伸び悩んでお り、その主な原因の1つは、女性たちが自ら の生産性を高めるために必要な資源と機会を 平等に手に入れることができないでいること にある。本報告は、ミレニアム開発目標のジェ ンダー平等(MDG 3)と貧困・食料安全保 障(MDG 1)は互いに補強し合うものであ ることをはっきりと確認している。われわれ はジェンダー平等を促進し、農業に携わる女 性たちが飢餓と極度の貧困に立ち向かう闘い に持続的に勝利するための能力を与えなけれ ばならない。私は、MDG 3を達成すること がMDG 1を達成する助けになりうると固く 信じている。
