    Oxfam India is part of a global movement working to fight poverty, injustice and inequality; in India it works in seven focus state. Oxfam India aims to improve poor people’s access, rights and entitlements over land and natural resources in order to support and augment their livelihoods. Through its programme on smallholder agriculture, Oxfam India focuses on socialising the identity of women as farmers, strengthening the economic leadership of women farmers, ensuring their land rights and making public investments in agriculture accessible to small farmers, especially women farmers.

    How worried are people, especially in poorer communities, about the risk that they could lose their homes or their land? The idea behind this initial survey is simple: to find out if people are worried about their existing property rights or lack of them – whether women or men, owners or tenants, in cities or in villages. The survey results reveal that insecurity of property rights is widespread in India, with about one in four owners and about half of renters expressing worry about losing their home.

    Likewise other tribal areas, the community in Kanker, Hazaribagh and Koraput have also been facing challenges emerged due to climate variability and change. While rainfed agriculture in small and marginal land is the main livelihood practice, the NTFPs provides subsistent food, nutrition and income security round the year. The fluctuation in rainfall pattern over the year and during monsoon season, higher summer temperature and long dry period are impacting the livelihood resources, hence the food security.

    The Working Group has developed the criteria of categorization of industrial sectors based on the Pollution Index which is a function of the emissions (air pollutants), effluents (water pollutants), hazardous wastes generated and consumption of resources. For this purpose the references are taken from the the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution ) Cess (Amendment) Act, 2003, Standards so far prescribed for various pollutants under Environment (Protection) Act , 1986 and Doon Valley Notification, 1989 issued by MoEFCC.

    This book made an attempt to bring together various legislative protections available to the tribals communities pertaining to the land and governance in the scheduled areas and the role of different institutions to achieve the goals enshrined in the Constitution. It examined the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution and its various provisions and special arrangements made for areas inhabited by Scheduled Tribes and the law relating to local self governance in these areas, primarily through village panchayat-an institution of local self governance.

    The Afghanistan Agriculture Information Portal (AAIP) is a web data dissemination platform for crop production statistics and crop conditions. It manages spatial (satellite images and thematic layers) and non-spatial data (crop, climatic and hydrologic) that national or sub-national institutions generate or collect regarding crop monitoring. It aims to provide this information useful for decision-making by top management, farmers and other stakeholders in a country like Afghanistan where more than 80% of people.
