    This Act concerns the development and management of geothermal resources for purposes of obtaining geothermal energy. It establishes the Geothermal Resources Advisory Committee. “Geothermal energy” means the energy derived or derivable from and produced within the earth by natural heat phenomena, and includes geothermal water. The Geothermal Resources Advisory Committee shall advise the Minister on development of geothermal energy.

    This Act amends the Carib Reserve Act by changing the name of the Act in the "Kalinago Territory Act" and by making consequential amendments. The word "Reserve" shall by substituted by the word "Territory" wherever it appears.

    This Act amends the National Parks and Protected Areas Act, 1975 in section designated national parks (listed in the Schedule to the principal Order) and on powers of the President to amend the Schedule for purposes of designating national parks or altering its boundaries or description. Leases to the State of lands included in a park shall be excluded from the park upon expiry of the lease.

    This Act provides rules relative to the exploration for and the exploitation of mineral resources and related matters such as the grant of mineral rights and (restriction of) rights on the surface, protection of the environment and the resolution of disputes. No grant of rights in minerals shall be valid unless granted in accordance with this Act. The Minister may designate an Inspector of Mines and Minerals.

    The Act amends the Aliens Landholding Regulation Act by inserting a new section 5A on obligations of aliens who acquire land under section 5. On acquiring land, under section 5 for an approved development the alien shall - (a) make an application for development permission under the Physical Planning Act, 2002 within six months of acquiring the land; and (b) commence construction of the approved development within one year of receipt of development permission under the Physical Planning Act, 2002.

    This Act amends the Title by Registration Act by inserting the definition of “new qualifying project” in section 2 and the Fourth Schedule by adding a new paragraph three on land transfer registration fees.

"Development" in this Act means "carrying out of building, engineering, mining or other operations in, over, or under land or the making of any material change in the use of any buildings or other land or the subdivision of land". The 40 sections are divided into 5 Parts: Administration (I); Development plans (II); General Planning Control (III); Acquisition of land and compensation (IV); Miscellaneous (V).

    This Act makes provision for the payment of compensation for withholding of property by persons acting in collusion with tenants and for the recovery of non-paid rent. The Act also makes provision for the renewal of leases without the surrender of land.
