    This Law provides for the protection and use of pastures for cattle grazing.The Law identifies two kinds of pasture: specific pasture which exists within the boundaries of villages or towns; and communal pasture which is arid land and does not fall within the bounds of villages and towns. The right to use specific pasture may not be bought or sold, and it shall be forbidden to sell or lease it for expansion of agricultural activities.

    This Hindu Succession Act Amendment made in 2005 was to grant, among others, rights to women to inherit agricultural land of the parents and husband. Under this amendment the daughters, including married daughters, are coparceners in joint family property, with the same birth right as sons, to share, claim partition, and (by presumption) to become karta (managers), while also sharing the liabilities. This would be applicable for Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains religious communities of India.

    This Act is to provide for the reservation of certain State lands as pasture land. The Minister may by Order published in the Gazette declare any State land to be reserved as pasture land (sect. 2). There are provisions regarding the power of entry and inspection of the Land Commissioner (sect. 7) and offences and penalties under this Act (sect. 9). The Land Commissioner may lease pasture land to persons engaged in the business of livestock breeding and to those who have the capacity to manage and develop such pasture land (sect. 3).

    Section 2 (definitions) is amended by adding definitions of "survey and measurement", and "registered records". Section 7 is completely rewritten It provides for the circumstance in which the effective boundaries of a recorded area are not corresponding with the actual survey. A new section (8A) relative to replacement of old records of newly surveyed areas, is added. Section 11A concerns the preparation of land-ownership certificates.

    "Land" in this Act means all categories of land, including tanks, ponds, and forest land (sect. 2). The Government may issue orders for purposes of land measurement by the authority prescribed by rules made under the present Act (sect. 3). Sections 4 and 5 make provision for the measurement of land and the demarcation of boundaries of specified lands. Section 6 make provision for land survey operations. After survey, measurement, and registration the prescribed authority shall issue a certificate of registration under section 8.
