LegislationDecember, 2006ZimbabweThis Act concerns measures to prevent and correct unlawful occupancy of gazetted land and related matters. "Gazetted land" is agricultural land required for resettlement purposes. “Resettlement land” means land identified as resettlement land under the Rural District Councils Act. Persons unlawfully holding, using or occupying gazetted land shall cease to do so in accordance with this Act and may be awarded compensation for improvements effected on the land before its acquisition.

These Rules amend the Registered Land Rules in the Third Schedule. The Third Schedule prescribes forms for purposes of the Registered Land Act. Form R.L. 2 is amended by deleting the attestation clause and substituting therefore a new clause. This form concerns the transfer of a lease.

This Act amends the Shooting and Fishing Leases Act by replacing section 18. That section grants power to the Minister to make regulations for the purposes of this Act, and, in particular, but without prejudice to the generality of that power, may make regulations – (a) for the levying of charges and the taking of fees; (b) amending the Schedule. Regulations made under this section may provide that any person who contravenes them shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding 20,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year.

This Proclamation provides for the lease of urban land. “Urban land” means land located within an administrative boundary of an urban center; “urban center” means any locality having a municipal administration or a population size of 2000 or more inhabitants of which at least 50% of its labor force is engaged in non-agricultural activities. This Proclamation shall be applicable to all urban centers with in Ethiopia with regard to urban land.

These Regulations of the Cabinet Secretary implement provisions of the Land Registration Act in respect of the organization and administration of land registries, the procedures for the registration of land, and related matters. The land register referred to under section 7 of the Act shall contain (a) the property section; (b) the proprietorship section; and (c) the encumbrance section. The Regulations set out the content of each section and also of the proprietorship section of a register that pertains to community land.
