    This Ordinance declares all lands on Ascension to be Crown lands and requires the Governor to prepare and publish a policy to secure a consistent and transparent process for granting rights of occupancy in relation to land on Ascension and for the control of the use of land. The Ordinance also repeals the Land Adjudication (Ascension) Ordinance, 2002 and the Registered Land Ordinance, Cap A23.

    This Ordinance concerns the right to sue the Crown and liability of the Crown in tort. It sets out rules of procedure of proceedings 0against the Crown. In any proceedings against the Crown for the recovery of land or other property the court shall not make an order for the recovery of the land or the delivery of the property, but may in lieu thereof make an order declaring that the plaintiff is entitled as against the Crown to the land or property or to the possession thereof.

    This Ordinance makes provision for the registration of land and provides rules relative to transactions in land registered under this Ordinance.For the purposes of this Ordinance there shall be established and maintained in St. Helena a land registry and the Governor may appoint a public officer to be the Registrar of Lands.The Ordinance defines effects of registration and makes provision with respect to transactions in land registered under this Ordinance. It also provides for subsequent dispositions of such land and leases, charges, easements, etc. on such land.

    An Ordinance to establish and make provision for the St. Helena National Trust.

    This Ordinance establishes the St. Helena National Trust as a body corporate. The principal objects of the Trust shall be: (a) to promote the permanent preservation for the benefit of St. Helena of lands and buildings of beauty or historical interest and, in the case of lands, the preservation of their natural aspect features and animal, plant and marine life; and (b) to maintain and manage lands acquired by the Trust as open spaces or places of public resort and buildings so acquired for purposes of public recreation, resort or instruction.

    An Ordinance to regulate and control the pasturage of animals on government lands.

    This Ordinance empowers the Governor in Council to regulate various aspects of pasturage including reservation of land owned or leased by Government for the pasturage of animals subject to such restrictions and conditions as may be prescribed. The Council Committee shall be responsible for the carrying out of this Ordinance and Regulations made thereunder. The Ordinance also provides rules relative to impounding and marking of animals and provides that moneys raised under this Ordinance shall be paid into a fund called the Animal Husbandry Fund.

    An Ordinance to make provision for the procedure in respect of the administration of estates.

    This Ordinance concerns the procedures for control of administration of estates of deceased persons. The Supreme Court shall continue to have jurisdiction in all matters concerning the administration of Estates. Every application for a grant of probate or of letters of administration shall be made by affidavit filed with the Registrar of the Supreme Court. The Ordinance defines the duty of every personal representative (i.e. a person to whom a grant is made).

    An Ordinance to facilitate the acquisition of land for public purposes.

    This Ordinance defines conditions for and sets out the procedures for the acquisition of land for public purposes. “Public purpose” is defined by this Act but a purpose may be declared as such by the Governor in Council. Whenever any land has been declared in accordance with this Ordinance to be needed for a public purpose the Governor in Council shall direct the Attorney General to take proceedings for the acquisition of the land. The Act also provides for appeal against declaration of intended acquisition, temporary occupation of land and compensation.

    This Ordinance provides rules for the development of land and land-use planning in general and provides for control on development. It establishes the Land Planning and Development Control Board and the Planning and Development Appeals Tribunal and requires the Governor to appoint a Planning Officer. The Planning Officer may, and if so required by the Governor in Council shall, submit proposals to the Governor in Council for the preparation of a development plan.
