    O Assentamento Oziel Alves Pereira é um caso de dotação territorial efetuada pelo Estado. O Assentamento foi criado em 2002 e reúne 553 famílias, organizadas pelo MST. Corresponde ao processo tradicional de Reforma Agrária realizado pelo governo brasileiro, na qual famílias de camponeses pobres sem-terra recebem do governo um contrato de uma propriedade rural por 10 anos.

    O Quilombo Kalunga é uma terra coletiva, reconhecida pelo estado e em processo de regularização fundiária. As terras que compõem o territorio quilombola foram ocupadas há centenas de anos por africanos que fugiram da escravidão e acabaram se misturando à população indígena. Desta forma nasceu uma comunidade marcada por estas duas culturas e que conseguiu manter-se isolada até por volta de 1970.

    A luta dos quilombolas de Ivaporunduva foi pioneira na conquista de seu direito à terra, antes mesmo de haver qualquer território quilombola titulado no país. Em 1994, formaram a primeira associação quilombola do Vale do Ribeira, com a qual entraram com uma ação judicial contra o Estado brasileiro requerendo que fossem declarados como remanescentes de quilombos e a emissão de título coletivo.
