A comunidade de Pilões tem origem a partir de uma ocupação realizada por 25 famílias numa propriedade de 780,4625 hectares, situada na região de Jacobina, noroeste da Bahia, extremo Norte da Chapada Diamantina. a fazenda tiveram suas atividades encerradas em 1990, mas as famílias ocuparam em 2001 com o apoio do Movimento CETA.
