Es por lo tanto esencial saber quién posee y controla los bosques y cómo se ejerce la gobernanza de la tenencia forestal. Esta guía técnica se dirige a quienes desean mejorar la gobernanza de la tenencia forestal, ayudándoles a actuar en cuatro áreas críticas —la comprensión, la organización, la participación y la garantía—, y facilita sus decisiones relacionadas con los bienes y servicios forestales.

    Since 1950 FAO has prepared and advocated decennial programmes for the World Census of Agriculture (WCA). The 2000 Programme was the sixth in the series. These programmes on one hand serve to promote availability of internationally comparable data on the structure of agriculture; on the other hand they provide methodological guidance to countries in collecting data, following standard concepts, definitions and classifications.

    This PFS training Manual is designed for use by Master Trainers (MTs) during the training of facilitators course. Each lesson/topic is complete in itself detailing the preparations to be made, the materials to be kept handy, the core message to be communicated, and the methods that can be used in communicating the messages. A few sessions may require the presence of a technical person as co-facilitator, but the rest can be handled by any person who has been trained as a PFS Master Trainer.

La presente guía busca secundar dicho principio mediante el logro de una gobernanza de la tenencia de la tierra que es equitativa en cuanto al género. La guía se centra en la justicia entre los sexos y en las formas en que el gobierno de la tenencia puede responder a las diferentes necesidades y prioridades de mujeres y de hombres.

    Under the current challenges of food security, climate change adaptation and mitigation, further provision of ecosystem services and sustainable intensification of agriculture, soil information becomes fundamental to guide wise policies and decisions. This document reviews the present availability of soil information from legacy maps and reports and from ongoing Digital Soil Mapping efforts. Currently, the soil science community is limited in its capacity to provide accurate and updated information to the different soil users.

    The report reviews a broad range of food security and agricultural development policy decisions implemented over the period 2007 to 2012 in more than 70 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Selected policy decisions were analysed following FAPDA’s classification, dividing policy decisions into three main categories: producer-oriented policies, consumer-oriented policies, as well as trade-oriented and macroeconomic policies. Policy decisions reviewed included those most debated and most frequently implemented since the 2007/08 food price crisis.
