    The Law determines principles for land use and land survey in Latvia. Its purpose is to protect the rights of land users and regulate the basic regulations for land use. The norms of this Law are applicable if the Law on Completion of State and Local Government Property Privatisation and Utilisation of Privatisation Certificates does not prescribe otherwise.

    The purpose of the present Act is to transpose into national legislation the Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2007 establishing an Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE). Article 1 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that the present Act regulates the creation, maintenance and organization of a national spatial data infrastructure. In particular the Act aims to provide authorities, economy, science and the public with spatial information in a sustainable, up to date, quick and simple way.

    This Regional Law regulates relations originating in the sphere of conservation, management, promotion and state protection of the objects of cultural heritage of regional significance. Identified objects of cultural heritage shall be subject to mandatory state registration. Establishment and mapping of the boundaries of land areas containing objects of cultural heritage and land-use planning within the boundaries of the aforesaid areas, and special regime of land tenure shall be validated by the Regional Government.

    The present Law enforces the Federal Spatial Information Act of 5 October 2007. In particular, the Law lays down provisions relating to the enforcement of federal legislation in the field of geographic information and the collection, management and use of spatial data for the area of the canton Basel-Stadt. Furthermore, the Law creates conditions for a cantonal spatial data infrastructure. The text consists of 25 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Principles (2); Official survey (3); Organization (4); Modification and repeal (5). One Annex is enclosed.

    The purpose of the present Act is the general new launch and the running of the cadastre with fixed boundaries. In particular, the Act provides for a Legal Cadastre in Austria in which boundaries are legally binding after consultation with all neighbours and a survey of all boundary points of a cadastral parcel.
