    The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. In particular, the purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the conclusion of Aboriginal land agreements. In particular, section 2 establishes that the tracts of territorial lands set out in the Schedule, including the surface and subsurface rights to the lands, are withdrawn from disposal for a period of three years beginning on the day on which this Order is made. The text consists of 5 sections and 1 Schedule.

    The present Act defines how resource development shall be managed in Nunavut. In particular, the Act: 1) establishes in legislation the continuation of the Nunavut Planning Commission (NPC) and Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) and clearly defines their powers, duties and functions, including how their commissioners/board members are appointed. It also clearly defines the roles and authorities of Inuit, and the federal and territorial government; 2) creates a "single window" approach to the review process.

    The present Act approves the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement. “Agreement” means the Land Claims Agreement between the Nunavik Inuit and Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Canada, signed on December 1, 2006, including any amendments made to it. Section 7 establishes that for the purposes of carrying out their objectives, the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board, the Nunavik Marine Region Planning Commission and the Nunavik Marine Region Impact Review Board established by the Agreement each have the capacity, rights, powers and privileges of a natural person.

    Section 4 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that the Tsawwassen First Nation Final Agreement is approved, given effect and declared valid and has the force of law. The Act – consisting of 33 sections – addresses, inter alia, the following issues: rights and obligations, third parties, inconsistency with the Agreement, payments out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund, fee simple estate, Tax Treatment Agreement, powers of Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, land management.

Section 5 establishes that for the purposes of carrying out its objectives, the Renewable Resources Board established by the afore-mentioned Agreement has the capacity,rights, powers and privileges of a natural person. The text consists of 11 sections.

    The purposes of the present Act are to enable the Sechelt Indian Band to establish and maintain self-government for itself and its members on Sechelt lands and to obtain control over and the administration of the resources and services available to its members.     The present Act approves, gives effect to and declares valid certain agreements between the Grand Council of the Crees (of Quebec), the Northern Quebec Inuit Association, the Government of Quebec la Société d’énergie de la Baie James, la Société de développement de la Baie James, la Commission hydro-électrique de Québec and the Government of Canada and certain other related agreements to which the Government of Canada is a party. For the purpose of the present Act. For the purpose of the Act “Territory” has the meaning assigned to that word by subsection 1.16 of the Agreement.
