This report is the results of the mid-term review for the EU-IFAD project "Restoration of degraded land for food security and poverty reduction in East Africa and the Sahel: taking successes in land restoration to scale" Project.
This study reviewed the status of natural resources and the driving forces for change, as well as past and ongoing approaches in natural resource management at the watershed scale in Ethiopia. First, we reviewed established environmental policy tools and the legal and policy framework, and determined whether innovative financing mechanisms are working in other areas with a similar context. We undertook stakeholder analyses and mapping to identify key stakeholders, and to assess their possible roles in the implementation of a sustainable financing mechanism for watershed rehabilitation.

This report contains the proceedings of the first stakeholders meeting held by the Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA) project, which aims to develop and validate quantitative reproducible assessment methods to make them widely available and to demonstrate and build capacity for their application in teh dryland areas of the world.
This local level land resources assessment methodology (LADA-Local) was produced within the Land Degradation Assessment in Drylands (LADA) project.
