    From 2009 to 2014 a nationwide effort was made to document, collect, conserve, and characterize wheat landraces grown by Turkish farmers. Spike samples were collected from more than 1600 farmers from 59 provinces, planted as single-spike progenies, and classified into species, subspecies, and botanical varieties (or morphotypes).     The farming system at landscapes preserving and restoring soil fertility of agricultural lands have been developed. Typification of lands was made and the types of agricultural landscapes were allocated: plain, hollow-gully, and gully-field. The analysis of the current structure of arable areas was made and resulted in the assessment of structure's influence on the state of soil fertility. The main degradation processes reducing the fertility of south chernozems were studied. There were proposed the ways of creating the sustainable artificial agricultural landscapes.

    Sustainable land use in agriculture involves the management of economic, environmental, and social services. In order to make the widely accepted concept of sustainable multifunctional agriculture operative for the design of agricultural policies, it is necessary to estimate the social demand for non-production outputs. This paper addresses the issue of matching agricultural policy with public preferences and willingness to pay for the possible non-production benefits that agriculture may deliver.
