In this article features of potential of agrarian sector of economy in modern conditions are considered. Theoretical and methodological basis of research were the works of domestic and foreign scientists on the investigated problem, dissertation abstracts, National Sustainable Rural Development Program for 2011-2015 and etc. The main components of resource potential are de-fined and the directions promoting its development in the conditions of globalization are allocated.

Any activities aimed at rural area development should not disregard the inhabitants who are "the tools" that implement given mechanisms. To a large extent, the effectiveness of social activities is determined by the participants’ expectations towards the projects and their knowledge of the subject. Land consolidation projects are the ideal tools for rural development. Land consolidation may be described as the planned readjustment of land ownership patterns with the aim of creating larger and more rational land holdings.

Land consolidations in Slovakia are regarded as an instrument for solution of ownership fragmentation in accordance to rural development. In the introduction of this paper, we describe problems in Slovakia associated with the ownership fragmentation. Country, rural areas were significantly influenced by the period of collectivization. The benefits of land consolidation project are shown in a case study area for Kanianka cadastre. We compare ownership relations before and after the land consolidation.

The partnership between FAO and The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has grown steadily since the country became a member of the Organization in 1993. Across the spectrum, there has been a continual emphasis on national capacity building, with a more recent focus on aligning Macedonia’s agriculture and rural sectors with European Union standards.
