This book tells the story of these seven decades of the history of FAO, its protagonists and their endeavours. We have dug into the FAO archives to bring to light unpublished black and white images, which form a portfolio of evocative images of the early years of the Organization.

Ce document a pour objet de donner un aperçu de ce qu’a été la coopération de la FAO avec le Royaume du Maroc depuis l’ouverture de la Représentation de la FAO à Rabat en 1982 en se concentrant sur les projets d’assistance technique. 134 projets nationaux de ce type ont été mis en oeuvre depuis 1982 pour un budget total de 49 millions de dollars. Durant cette même période, le Maroc a aussi bénéficié de l’appui de 60 projets régionaux couvrant plusieurs pays.

The purpose of the United Nations Challenge Badges is to raise awareness, educate and, most of all, motivate young people to change their behaviour and be active agents of change in their local communities. Challenge Badges are appropriate for use with school classes and youth groups, and are endorsed by WAGGGS and WOSM. They include a wide range of activities and ideas that can easily be adapted by teachers or leaders.

It reviews the situation including achievements and challenges related to adequacy, equity and equality in the roles the two genders play in natural resources management. It is common knowledge that in general, women tend to be the disadvantaged party in many cases. In recent years, gender issues have been at the center of high level consultations in Africa and elsewhere in the world.

In the last decade, the increased interest in bioenergy production has led to the need for improved crop residue management. Crop residues have historically been used for many other purposes: to sustain healthy soils for food production, as feed and bedding for livestock, and as raw material for heating and cooking. As the link between crop residue management and food security is evident, one needs to decide whether or to which extent the removal of crop residues for bioenergy production is possible.
