The partnership between Indonesia and FAO began with the country’s membership of the Organization in 1948 and<p></p>was strengthened with the opening of a country office in 1978. Over nearly 70 years, hundreds of FAO development and<p></p>emergency programmes have successfully supported the country’s food and agriculture sector, including fisheries and<p></p>forestry.

It shows how biodiversity and ecosystems benefit people in countless ways by providing food, clean water, shelter and raw materials for our basic needs. This new Guide describes the application of spatial technology to improve disaster risk management (DRM) within the aquaculture sector. DRM requires interrelated activities to ensure prevention, preparedness (including early warning), response and recovery for a wide range of natural, technological and complex disasters that can impact aquaculture operations and livelihoods.<p></p>Spatial technology refers to systems and tools that acquire, manage and analyse data that have geographic context.

The emerging biofuel sector has drawn great interest as an alternative source of fuel for transportation. The expansion of biofuels greatly impacts world agricultural markets, since currently, the primary feedstocks for ethanol and biodiesel production are field crops and their derived products. There is great interest in the potential of countries to expand their biofuel sectors through increased production of feedstocks. The long-term potential for developing first-generation biofuels in many countries depends on a large and constant supply of feedstocks.
