    Realizing women’s land rights in Africa and Beyond

    In October 2016, women farmers from 22 countries across Africa climbed the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro to claim women’s rights for access to and control over land and natural resources. This event coincided with the launch of a campaign of the African Land Policy Centre (ALPC) to reach the target of having 30 percent of all registered land in the name of women by 2025 and to embed women’s land rights into the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

    The main objective of the Senegal
    Country Environmental Analysis (CEA) is to reinforce the
    ongoing dialogue on environmental issues between the World
    Bank and the Government of Senegal. The CEA also aims to
    support the ongoing Government implementation of a strategic
    results-based planning process at the Environment Ministry
    (MEPNBRLA). The main goal is to enable Senegal to have the
    necessary tools to attain the Millennium Development Goals

    Launched in 2011, the Second Sustainable
    and Participatory Energy Management Project (PROGEDE II) for
    Senegal has been hailed for effectively mainstreaming a
    gender perspective into an energy project. Under the
    project, women have participated more in decision making;
    developed skills in technical production, entrepreneurship,
    and organizational management; and benefitted from increased incomes.
