La présente loi met en exécution, entre autres, la loi du 20 juin 2001 sur le développement rural et l’ordonnance 7 décembre 1998 sur les améliorations structurelles dans l'agriculture (ordonnance sur les améliorations structurelles) (OAS)5).
Food availability, access, stability and utilization are all part of the multi-dimensional nature of food security. The “availability” aspect, discussed here, refers to the availability of sufficient quantities of food of appropriate quality, supplied through domestic production or inputs.

The present Law lays down provisions relating to the correct and efficient enforcement of the Federal Acts on agriculture, rural soil and agricultural lease. In particular, the Law aims to strenghten agriculture and alpine farming, to guarantee favourable framework conditions for their development and to promote an efficient, sustainable, environment-friendly management above all through family farming.

The present Law regulates the implementation of the Federal Agricultural Lease Act of 4 October 1985, the Agriculture Act of 29 April 1998 and the Federal Soil Act of 4 October 1991. The purpose of the present Act is to enforce and complete the federal legislation on agriculture and rural soil, to ensure favourable conditions and to promote an environmental-friendly management.
Family farms are often associated with greater sustainability. But the definition of sustainability is a highly disputable topic. The School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) in Switzerland has developed a method enabling a more objective evaluation of sustainability in agriculture. Response-Inducing Sustainability Evaluation (RISE) covers ten sustainability indicators and supplies the foundation for agricultural advice.
La présente loi a pour but d'assurer l'exécution, sur le territoire de la République et Canton du Jura, de la loi fédérale susvisés sur le bail à ferme agricole. L’article 2 établit que les dispositions de la loi fédérale sur le bail à ferme agricole sont applicables: a) aux immeubles affectés à l'agriculture; b) aux entreprises agricoles; c) aux entreprises accessoires non agricoles mais formant une unité économique avec une entreprise agricole.
La présente loi concerne les constructions et les installations diverses. Notamment, l’article 1er établit que sur tout le territoire du canton nul ne peut être fait sans y avoir été autorisé, comme par exemple modifier la configuration d’un terrain, ou. élever en tout ou partie une construction ou une installation, notamment un bâtiment locatif, industriel ou agricole.
