    These Regulations correct two errors in the principal Regulations. They remove an erroneous reference in regulation 3 of the principal Regulations and they correct the provision relating to fines in regulation 21(2) of those Regulations in accordance with the terminology used for offences which are summary only.

    This Act grants the right to an owner or occupier of a domestic property who considers that the height of a high hedge situated on land owned or occupied by another person adversely affects the enjoyment of the domestic property to apply to the relevant local authority for a high hedge notice. A relevant local authority must dismiss an application in specified circumstances. Where a relevant local authority decides under section 6(5)(b) that action should be taken, it must issue a high hedge notice as soon as is reasonably practicable after making 15 that decision.

    This Act provides for the management and protection of forest resources in Northern Ireland. It, among other things, specifies functions and powers of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, provides for the protection of trees from damage and provides for restrictions on the felling of trees.The Department shall promote forestry on a wider footing than the traditional primary role of developing afforestation, the supply of timber, and the maintenance of reserves of growing trees.

    This Order amends section 1 of the Forestry Act 1967 by modifying, in accordance with section 59 of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009, the functions of the Forestry Commissioners, to enable and require them to use land in Scotland placed at their disposal in the such a way as to contribute to the delivery of the climate change targets which are set in or under that Act.

    The present Regulations implement, for Scotland, changes made to Council Directive 85/337/EC, implemented by the 1998 Regulations, made by Council Directive 97/11/EC. They also implement the extension of both Directives to the Contracting Parties of the European Economic Area (EEA) under Article 74 and Annex XX paragraph I.1 of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as given effect by Decision No.20/1999 of the EEA Joint Committee adopted on 26th February 1999.
