The critical role of forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation is now widely recognized. Forests contribute significantly to climate change mitigation through their carbon sink and carbon storage functions. They play an essential role in reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing adaptation of people and ecosystems to climate change and climate variability, the negative impacts of which are becoming increasingly evident in many parts of the world.
La version française de l'Outil d'apprentissage sur les mesures d’atténuation appropriées au niveau national (MAAN) dans le secteur agriculture, foresterie et autres affectations des terres (AFAT) se compose d'une série de diapositives en cinq modules pour l'étude indépendante. L'outil examine les voies pour l'identification des MAAN (c’est-à-dire évaluations rapides ou approfondies) et la hiérarchisation des options différentes pour la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre (GES).
Basándose en datos más completos y fiables como nunca antes, y abarcando 234 países y territorios, la Evaluación de los recursos forestales mundiales 2015 da evidencia de signos esperanzadores del logro de una gestión forestal mejorada y de una disminución de la deforestación en todas las regiones del mundo. Sin embargo, estas tendencias deben aún ser reforzadas, especialmente en los países que han quedado a la zaga.

The purpose of the sourcebook is to further elaborate the concept of CSA and demonstrate its potential, as well as limitations. It aims to help decision makers at a number of levels (including political administrators and natural resource managers) to understand the different options that are available for planning, policies and investments and the practices that are suitable for making different agricultural sectors, landscapes and food systems more climate-smart.

Toutefois, ces tendances doivent être renforcées, en particulier dans les pays qui accusent du retard.Le présent document réunit les données communiquées par les pays dans le cadre de l’ Évaluation des ressources forestières mondiales 2015 .
Based on a broad literature review, this publication discusses rural women’s time poverty in agriculture, elaborates on its possible causes and implications and provides insight into the various types of constraints that affect the adoption of solutions for reducing work burden. This paper raises questions about the adequacy of women’s access to technologies, services and infrastructure and about the control women have over their time, given their major contributions to agriculture.
