The critical role of forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation is now widely recognized. Forests contribute significantly to climate change mitigation through their carbon sink and carbon storage functions. They play an essential role in reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing adaptation of people and ecosystems to climate change and climate variability, the negative impacts of which are becoming increasingly evident in many parts of the world.
Este documento es el resultado final de ese proceso. Dirigido a una audiencia mundial – que comprende las instancias decisorias urbanas, funcionarios públicos, asesores políticos y demás partes interesadas – contribuirá al desarrollo de bosques urbanos y periurbanos que ayuden a las ciudades a resolver sus exigencias actuales y futuras de productos forestales y servicios del ecosistema.
L’Évaluation des ressources forestières mondiales 2015 est le fruit d’un effort collectif des pays, ayant impliqué quelque 300 correspondants nationaux, la FAO et ses partenaires. Mis en oeuvre par six partenaires dans le cadre de divers processus, le Questionnaire concerté sur les ressources forestières couvre 88 pour cent des forêts mondiales. Cette collaboration permet d’améliorer la cohérence des données tout en réduisant le fardeau des pays quant à l’établissement des rapports.
Une analyse de l'état des plantations forestières ainsi que des tendances actuelles du secteur forestier aux niveaux mondial et régional. Le rapport traite des mesures à tenir en compte en ce qui concerne le développement des plantations forestières. Par ailleurs, la perspective des plantations forestières est présentée sous la forme de différents scénarios qui se basent sur la future croissance
The Conference of the Parties (COP) of UNFCCC is a prime opportunity to communicate FAO’s work on climate change and to liaise with potential partners, at the numerous side events and parallel events organized around the COP. This booklet seeks to raise awareness on the impacts of climate change on food security and nutrition and advocate for the importance of having the agricultural sectors properly considered in climate change mechanisms, policies and finances.
Land Tenure Working Paper 15. This publication brings to light the existing linkages between land tenure and the realization of the right to food. It points out that responsible governance of land requires the adoption of human rights-based approach in order to develop coherent and long term solutions to improve people’s livelihoods. The document presents the legal implications of the right to food at national level and provides a series of examples on the implementation of human rights principles and obligations into land tenure systems, policies, and institutional frameworks.
La version française de l'Outil d'apprentissage sur les mesures d’atténuation appropriées au niveau national (MAAN) dans le secteur agriculture, foresterie et autres affectations des terres (AFAT) se compose d'une série de diapositives en cinq modules pour l'étude indépendante. L'outil examine les voies pour l'identification des MAAN (c’est-à-dire évaluations rapides ou approfondies) et la hiérarchisation des options différentes pour la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre (GES).
This study is intended to contribute to the effective implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines by exploring ways of monitoring the governance of tenure of land, fisheries and forests and providing a civil society perspective on monitoring in the context of the Guidelines. It provides an overview of existing and commonly used monitoring systems and practices in relation with tenure of land, fisheries and forests by civil society organisations and institutions. In order to do so, it will propose a schematic categorization of monitoring in the context of land, fisheries and forests.
