These Regulations, consisting of 13 sections and two Schedules, applies to cultivate agricultural land the Conservation areas, declared by Order published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 1550/9 of 22 May 2008, as specified in the Schedule to these regulations. They establish requirements to that a person shall not cultivate annual crops on any land area, which consists of a slope of more than sixty 60%.
These Regulations establish administrative procedures, in particular: tax and levy to be paid where the holding is 10 Acres or less in extent or over 10 Acres in extent. They provide for: (a) nomination tendered after prescribed period; (b) cancellation of a nomination; (c) second or any subsequent nomination; (d) cancellation and a second or subsequent nomination.

The Ordinance is the general law on matrimonial property rights. In particular, it establishes administrative and legal proceedings and specifies that women are capable of holding, acquiring and disposing of any movable or immovable property as if she were a femme sole, without the consent or intervention of her husband. This applies to all property belonging to her at the time of marriage and property acquired or devolved to her after marriage. She also has the same remedies and redress by way of criminal proceedings for the protection and security of her separate property (16).
These Regulations establish the basis for assessing the market value of any land or the compensation for any injurious affection caused by the acquisition of land. Market Value should be assessed as follows: in case part of a land is acquired and when its value as a separate entity deems to realize a value proportionately lower than the Market Value of the main land the compensation should be proportionate to the value of the main land.
The Ordinances ratifies the institution of the Colombo Special Areas Development Board, its task and functions in providing and execute redevelopment schemes on lands which have undergone demolition of infrastructure for emergency reasons. The lands interested by this Ordinance shall be vested to the Board and may be sold or leased.Chapter IV establishes conditions and principles governing the alienation by permit or grant and the criteria for the calculation of the annual payment. This Ordinance, consisting of five Parts, applies to Tamils in property matters. It specifies that movable or immovable property a woman acquires during or before marriage remains her separate property. A woman has the power to deal with her movable property during her lifetime without the consent of her husband.
