    The present Regulations are made under the Land Surveyors Act. The Regulations lay down provisions relating to the activities of land surveyors. For the purpose of the present Regulations “approved education program” means an education program that prepares a person for entry to the profession of land surveying, as approved by an examining body determined by the Council.

    The present Regulations are made under the Surface Rights Acquisition and Compensation Act. In particular, section 3 establishes that “mineral” includes potash according to clause 2(e) of the afore-mentioned Act establishing that “mineral” means petroleum and natural gas, or either of them, and any other substance that the Lieutenant Governor in Council may by Regulation establish.     The present Regulations are made under the Prince Edward Land Protection Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the measuring of shore frontage. Section 1 establishes that for the purpose of this Regulations “shore frontage” means, with respect to a parcel of land, the side or sides of the parcel of land that directly abut the waters of Northumberland Strait, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the bays listed in the Schedule or any body of water that is connected to tidal waters and has a tidal flow.

    The present Regulation enforces the Surveys Act (R.S.O. 1990, c. S.30). In particular, the Regulation repeals the Ontario Co-ordinate System Regulation (R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 1028) dealing with a survey made for the purpose of establishing the location of points on the surface of the earth by geographic or grid co-ordinates.     The present Regulation enacts the Land Act. The Regulation lays down provisions related to the recording of land. Section 1, 2 and 3 establish respectively that the land identified in the map attached as Schedule 1, 2, and 3 is, respectively, constituted as the Coast Region Land Recording District, the Southern Interior Region Land Recording District and the Northern Region Land Recording District.     The present Regulations enacts the Planning and Development Act, 2007. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the establishment of buffer zones in the subdivision of land. The text – consisting of 17 sections – deals with the following matters: designation of dedicated lands on plan of subdivision, buffer strips, leases, additional uses of public reserves and municipal reserves, lease by a council that is an approving authority, moneys received concerning dedicated lands, exemption, easements density and Northern Saskatchewan Administration Direction.
