    The present Order is made under the Territorial Lands Act. In particular, the purpose of this Order is to withdraw from disposal certain tracts of territorial lands in order to facilitate the conclusion of Aboriginal land agreements. In particular, section 2 establishes that the tracts of territorial lands set out in the Schedule, including the surface and subsurface rights to the lands, are withdrawn from disposal for a period of three years beginning on the day on which this Order is made. The text consists of 5 sections and 1 Schedule.

    Regulations respecting waste disposal in Indian reserves.

    The present Regulations are made under the Indian Act. The Regulations lay down provisions relating to the use of reserve lands. The Regulations establish that no person shall: a) operate a garbage dump in a reserve, or b) use any land in a reserve for the disposal or storage of waste, except under the authority of a permit. For the purpose of the present Regulation ‘waste” is defined to include garbage, liquid and semi-liquid substances, landfill and scrap of all kinds. The Regulations also prohibit the burning of waste.

    The present Regulations are enacted under the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act. Section 2 establishes that proposed or existing developments set out in Schedule 2 that are situated in a national park, national park reserve or national historic site are developments for which preliminary screenings are not required by reason that their impact on the environment of the Mackenzie Valley is insignificant. The text consists of 4 sections and 2 Schedules.

    General Regulations for the control and management of national parks.

    The present Regulations enact the Canada National Parks Act. Section 3 establishes that a person may use or occupy public lands or other public property within a Park if that person does so in accordance with the Act, the Regulations made there under and any agreement made between the Government of Canada and the government of the province within which the Park is situated. The Minister may, from time to time, arrange to have public lands in a Park surveyed or resurveyed. The text consists of 40 sections.

    These Regulations do not apply to a use of land authorized pursuant to grazing or agricultural leases subsequent to its initial clearing, and to harvesting, hunting, trapping or fishing. Regulation 4 specifies activities on land that are prohibited without having a Type A Permit, whereas regulation 5 lists activities for which a Type B permit is required. No person shall deposit material or debris in a watercourse contrary to the Northwest Territories Waters Act or the Fisheries Act, or any regulations made under those Acts (reg.9).
