In doing so, its goals are limited. It does not ad dress fundamental questions about when, where and what kind of management works, nor attempt to identify the political, social, economic and environmental ingredient s for success – subjects on which there is a huge, if still inconclusive, literature.

Different strategies are often needed to fully engage both women and men in wildlife-related management. This fact sheet shows the important role played by gender in wildlife use and conservation; it highlights key issues, experiences and knowledge, challenges and opportunities, as well as what is still to be learned.
