    This Act regulates the administration of Government land and land acquisition for public purposes. Further it establishes the procedure to be followed for such acquisition and provides for eviction from lands and properties which are either held or administered by the Government.

    An Act to make provision for the stabilization of values and the control of land in areas earmarked for special development by the Government.

    Where the Government has earmarked an area within Malta for public acquisition with a view to its development for a public purpose, the Minister responsible for public works may declare such an area to be a Special Development Area. Article 4 establishes the effects of such declaration.

    An Act to regulate the reletting of agricultural land and to provide for matters connected therewith and ancillary thereto.

    This Act establishes rules governing the reletting of agricultural land. Where a lessor desires to make any change in the conditions of a lease on the expiration of its term, unless an agreement is reached with the tenant, he shall apply to the Rural Leases Control Board (which is established under article 5) and indicate the proposed changes. The Board may reject, approve or modify the new conditions proposed by the lessor. Article 4 regards the non-renewal of lease.

    An Act to regulate the grant on any title of immovable property belonging to or administered by the Government, and to provide for matters ancillary thereto or connected therewith.

    The present Act makes provision in matter of transfer or grant on any title of immovable property which belongs to or is administered by the Government. The disposal of land belonging to or administered by the Government shall not take place unless such disposal is made as follows: (a) in accordance with a call for tenders; (b) in accordance with a policy applicable to the land proposed to be disposed of and approved by a resolution of the House of Representatives; (c) through a special resolution of the House of Representatives; (d) to a body corporate established by law.

    An Act to establish a Land Registry to regulate the registration of title to land, and to make provision for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

    The Act provides for the establishment in Malta of the Land Registry for the purposes of registration of title to land. The Act consists of sixty sections divided into the following ten Parts: (I) Preliminary; (II) Administrative provisions; (III) Registration of land; (IV) Dealings with registered land; (V) Cautions; (VA) Cautionary charges; (VI) Land and charge certificates; (VII) General provisions concerning registration; (VIII) Rectification of Register and indemnity; (IX) Miscellaneous provisions; (X) Rules and fees orders.

    An Act to provide for the Preservation of Fertile Soil.

    This Act aims at preserving soil which is suitable or could be made suitable for purposes of agriculture. To this end, Section 3 lays down particular prohibitions. No person shall, inter alia: (a) transport certain quantities of fertile soil without the written permission of the Director of Agriculture; (b) render unsuitable fertile soil by mixing it with stones or by any other means; (c) cover fertile soil, unless it is considered necessary in connection with agriculture. Section 4 regards erection of buildings on areas where fertile soil exist. Sections 9 and 10 establish penalties.

    An Act to make provision for the preservation of sand.

    The present Act provides for the restriction on removal of sand. No person shall remove or carry away from any beach or sea shore or from any land or place, whether publicly or privately owned, any sand without a permit by the Director of Public Works. Section 7 establishes the penalties to be applied in case of contravention.
