    Une équipe internationale de chercheurs a identifié deux gènes qui ont un rapport avec les résistances contre la trypanosomiase. La maladie est provoquée par des parasites unicellulaires du groupe des trypanosomes, qui sont transmis par la mouche tsé-tsé, et elle occasionne des dommages estimés à 4–5 milliards de dollars US par an. Ce sont particulièrement les éleveurs de bovins vivant dans ce qui est appelé la «ceinture tsé-tsé» de l’Afrique, qui va du Sénégal à la Tanzanie et du Tchad au Zimbabwe, qui sont particulièrement touchés.

    The continuing and rapid degradation of rural watersheds has been a major concern for governments and civil society in Asia and the Pacific region. A root cause is the segmented management of land and water resources. This has been exacerbated by the cumulative and linked effects of an increase in demand for food, fuel and water due to population growth, competition for scarce land resources from biofuel production and a shift in preference for protein-rich diets. The expected adverse impact of climate change in the coming decades will most likely worsen the situation.

Le rapport contextualise et définit le genre dans le cadre des Directives Volontaires, explique ce que signifie gouvernance foncière d’une prospective genre et identifie et analyse les principaux thèmes et questions.

    Land Tenure Working Paper 19. The present paper is written as part of the overall Voluntary Guidelines consultation and development process and is a contribution to the subsequent preparation of the Gender Technical Guide. It contextualises and defines gender for the Voluntary Guidelines, discusses what governance of tenure means from a gender perspective and identifies and analyses key issues and themes. It then summarises recommendations relevant to gender before drawing some conclusions for the development process of the Voluntary Guidelines.
