    This Act establishes National Planning for Coastal Zone Management. It consists of 13 articles laying down competencies and duties of the aforementioned national administration. It also lists sanctions to be paid by offenders in case of environmental areas pollution, according to article 14 of Act No. 6.938.

    This Decree approves the Regulation on environmental pollution control established by Law No. 997 of 31 May 1976. The Regulation consists of 7 Parts and 8 Annexes specifying in details all the requirements and conditions to be satisfied by industries, or any other activity which may contaminate the environment in order to prevent and control water, soil and air pollution. Part I establishes general provisions (including definition of prohibited activities and restrictions to be observed). Part II concerns water pollution, specifying water classification and standards to be satisfied.

    This Law establishes the obligation of drawing up regional environmental plans in order to avoid or prevent soil erosion. It consists of 7 articles establishing that lands must comply with specified environmental requirements.

    This Decree regulates Law No. 6.225 establishing the obligation of drawing up regional environmental plans in order to avoid or prevent soil erosion. It consists of 14 articles defining lands to be protected (specifying environmental requirements to be satisfied) according to the Ministry of Agriculture. Land authorized activity is specified in the text.

    This Decree prohibits tree logging within certain areas in the State of São Paulo. It consists of 21 articles establishing the zones (including protected zones, natural reserves and urban areas) in which tree logging is prohibited in order to preserve natural habitats. A list of protected trees is specified in article 16. Exceptional tree logging may be authorized by the Environmental Secretariat and the State Forestry Institution.

    This Law, structured in three main sections and composed of 20 articles, provides a detailed definition of the areas to be considered of special interest for the State. It sets the legal framework for the immovable properties with more than 1.000.000 m2 and those located in municipal bordering areas.

    This Decree, composed of 26 articles and 3 Annexes, implements Law No. 1.130 of 12 February 1987 individuating the Areas of Special Interest in Rio de Janeiro State and definining the standards for the parcelling projects referred to in art. 13 of the Law No. 6.766 of 19 December 1979. It provides a detailed list of the municipal bordering areas and of the properties with more than 1.000.000 m2 where land parcelling for urban purposes is subject to the State previous approval. This Decree does not apply in the areas pertaining to the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro.

    This Law, composed of 18 articles, regulates the industrial zoning in the Metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro. It defines 3 areas for the establishment of industrial activities, namely Areas of Strictly Industrial Use (ZEI), Areas of Mainly Industrial Use (ZUPI) and Areas with Diversified Use (ZUD). The law establishes the competent bodies for the zoning and the classification of industrial activities. For the ZUD areas, it requires a Plan aimed at rationalise the land use for industrial purposes and to minimize environmental impacts.

    This Law, composed of eight articles, rules on native populations’ permanence in Conservation Units. The Law authorises the State Government to grant the right of using the occupied land to those native populations residing since over 50 years in Rio De Janeiro Conservation Units. The Law also requires native populations to actively participate in the preservation of the aforesaid units. To this end, the Law specifies forbidden activities, natural resources’ conservation duties as well as fines and penalties for non compliance.
