Summary report, recommendations and text of the "Bangkok Declaration" the total land area of the Asia and the Pacific region is 3,001 million ha or 22.9 percent of the world’s land area. However, adverse soils, climate and topographic factors limit the possibilities for sustainable agricultural production in about 86 percent of the region.Examines the constraints facing Asian countries in developing agriculture, sharing resources and obtaining food security in the face of climate change and other difficulties.

The Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security (VGGT) promotes secure tenure rights and equitable access to land, fisheries and forests as a means of eradicating hunger and poverty, supporting sustainable development and enhancing the environment. The guidelines were officially endorsed by the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) on 11 May 2012. 2. The Guidelines serve as a reference and set of principles and internationally accepted norms or practices for the responsible governance of tenure.

Evaluation of FAO’s Contribution to Cambodia. Although Cambodia is rapidly transitioning to a more industrialised economy, the country is still among the poorest in Southeast Asia, and the risk of sliding back into poverty remains high, especially for rural households. The goal of FAO’s programme in Cambodia has been to contribute to the eradication of poverty, food insecurity and malnutrition while promoting sustainable natural resource management. The 2018 country programme evaluation highlighted FAO’s comparative advantage – as a trusted purveyor of data and technical advice.
