This manual presents a methodology for assessing woodfuel supply and demand at the level of the displacement camp through the collection of primary data in the field and remote sensing analysis. The methodology uses a multi-sectoral approach to assess the energy-related needs and challenges of people in both displaced and host communities. The first part of the manual presents the methodology for assessing demand for woodfuel, which is structured around four sequential steps.
La publicación fue lanzada durenate el Simposio Internacional de Carbono Orgánico del Suelo (GSOC) que se llevó a cabo en la sede de la FAO (Roma, 21 a 23 de marzo de 2017). La publicación provee una revisión sobre los principales datos y hechos científicos sobre el estado actual del conocimiento así como las principales lagunas de conocimiento sobre Carbono Orgánico del Suelo. Las Directrices sirven como texto de referencia en el que se estipulan principios y normas internacionalmente aceptados para las prácticas responsables de la gobernanza de la tenencia. Las Directrices constituyen un marco que los Estados pueden utilizar a la hora de elaborar sus propias estrategias, políticas, legislación, programas y actividades.
Las Directrices son el primer instrumento exhaustivo de alcance mundial sobre la tenencia y su administración preparado mediante negociaciones intergubernamentales. En las Directrices se estipulan principios y normas internacionalmente aceptados que encauzan las prácticas responsables para el uso y control de la tierra, la pesca y los bosques.
The purpose of this paper is examine the notion of tenure in connection with water resources and to explore whether the concept of water tenure has the potential to make a useful contribution towards resolving the world’s water resources challenges. It seeks to provide answers to the following questions: (a) What is water tenure? (b) Does water tenure really exist or is water simply too different from other natural resources? (c) Could the concept of water tenure be useful in terms of the development of natural resources policies and practices?
This report is based on the proceedings of the Technical Consultation on Gender, Property Rights and Livelihoods in the Era of AIDS, organized by FAO in November 2008. It takes stock of where FAO and its partners are in terms of addressing property rights insecurity and provides a proposed framework through which future action can take place.
Recent years have witnessed a renewed interest in agricultural investment. In many cases, this new momentum has translated into large-scale acquisitions of farmland in lower- and middle-income countries. Partly as a result of sustained media attention, these acquisitions have triggered lively if polarised debates about “land grabbing”. Less attention has been paid, however, to alternative ways of structuring agricultural investments that do not involve large-scale land acquisitions.
