This report presents the outcome of a macroeconomic survey of the forest sector of the Republic of Latvia. It presents issues and parameters facing public and private sector decision-makers in their respective attempts to develop this sector. It identifies opportunities and constraints to investment and proposes measures to, accordingly, either engage them or remove them. It also attempts to introduce simple methodologies to undertake analysis currently constrained by the absence of more comprehensive data.

LegislationSweden, Europe, Northern EuropeA real property that has been assessed as an agricultural unit which is owned by 3 or more persons is rules by provisions as laid down in sections 2 to 6 of the present Act relative to common ownership rights. An agreement between owners, which is in contravention with these provisions, shall be non-valid (sect. 1). The owners shall be represented by a representative who shall be registered in the real property register. The representative shall act current transactions in accordance with directions provided by the common owners.

This Act regulates the granting of permission for the acquisition of small dwellings and agricultural units. A permission is not required by residents of the same county in which the property to be acquired lies and in the other circumstances in section 1. The permission to acquire land shall be applied for with the respective county councils in accordance with sections 3 to 8. (8 sections)

The project pilot cities are Rajshahi City in Bangladesh and Kurunegala City in Sri Lanka.

This paper focuses on legal and institutional aspects of children’s property and inheritance rights in Southern and East Africa. Chapter 2 discusses violations of children’s property and inheritance rights and discusses how the spread of HIV/AIDS has contributed to the violations. Chapter 3 assesses several norms of customary law that aim to protect children’s property and inheritance rights as well as the current practices of customary law that—in the context of the HIV/AIDS pandemic—serve to complicate and limit children’s ability to maintain their rights.

The project “Community level legal education and support to help rural women secure and exercise land and resource rights, and address HIV-AIDS related tenure insecurity - GCP/MOZ/086/NOR”, hereinafter abbreviated as GCP/086, is the most recent of a series of FAO initiatives implemented, to a large extent, in partnership with the Juridical and Judicial Training Centre (CFJJ) of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Mozambique as well as in partnership with a number of National NGOs.
