A presente nota de pesquisa sugere que se atente ao enquadramento epistémico e institucional da ocorrência da geografia humana nas antigas colónias portuguesas, em particular da Missão de Geografia da Guiné, dirigida por Orlando Ribeiro e considerada o momento inaugural desta linhagem, como ponto de partida para procurar agregar os relatos cindidos acerca da afirmação desse saber, por um lado, e sobre o seu contexto de emergência, por outro; para integrar as narrativas paralelas que se ocupam da geografia metropolitana e da geografia colonial; e para fazer convergir a história da geografia

In the case of the Kenyan coast, population pressure causes land cover changes in the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, which is an important habitat for endangered species. Forest and bushland have been changed to agricultural land in order to provide livelihood for the rural population who are highly dependent on small-scale farming. Unclear land rights and misbalanced access to land cause uncontrolled expansion and insecure livelihoods.

In its present state, the analysis of the wood industry system in Tanimbar archipelago only covered the South part of the Yamdena island. In this part of the island, the wood industry system feeds the demand of the local villages and of Saumlaki. Among the villages of South Yamdena, two villages (Wermatan and Ilngei) are remarkable with their high level of wood activities. Thus these are analysed in the following sections. In the north part of the Island, the system feeds the local villages, the city of Larat, but also some outer markets.
