The state of hunger in developing countries as a group has improved since 1990, falling by 39 percent, according to the 2014 GHI.

This, coupled with rising global food prices, brings ever-mounting food import bills. In addition, population growth and changing demand patterns will double demands over the next 10 years. Two key issues must be addressed: (a) establishing a consistent and stable policy environment for regional trade in fertilizers; and (b) investing in institutions that reduce the transaction costs of coordination failures.

Les estimations les plus récentes montrent que 281,6 millions de personnes sur le continent, soit plus d'un cinquième de la population, ont été confrontées à la faim en 2020, soit 46,3 millions de plus qu'en 2019.

Peer-reviewed publicationJanuary, 2021SenegalThe study aims to reveal the transition features of agricultural land use in the Groundnut Basin of Senegal from 2009 to 2018, especially the impact of urbanization on agricultural land and the viewpoint of farmland spatiotemporal evolution. Integrated data of time series MCD12Q1 land-use images of 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018 were used to provide a land transition in agricultural and urban areas through the synergistic methodology. Socio-economic data was also used to serve as a basis for the argument.
