The Tanzania Africa Research in Sustainable Intensification for the Next Generation (Africa RISING) Baseline Evaluation Survey (TARBES) was implemented during February-April 2014 as part of the International Food Policy Research Institute’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of Africa RISING. The Thika Superhighway is perhaps the most massive infrastructural project in the East African region, save for perhaps the standard gauge railway (SGR) project. It was anticipated by the business community, leading to the change of use of land along it, manifested in the development of malls and housing estates.
