Esta publicación compartida por la FAO y Naciones Unidas-Hábitat trata de comprender y definir mejor los procesos, los mecanismos y las instituciones de la gobernanza de la tenencia en áreas rurales y urbanas. En el documento se reconoce que se han realizado excelentes políticas de la tierra, leyes y reformas técnicas. Land Tenure Working Paper 15. This publication brings to light the existing linkages between land tenure and the realization of the right to food. It points out that responsible governance of land requires the adoption of human rights-based approach in order to develop coherent and long term solutions to improve people’s livelihoods. The document presents the legal implications of the right to food at national level and provides a series of examples on the implementation of human rights principles and obligations into land tenure systems, policies, and institutional frameworks.

These studies are focused on Kenya, Lesotho and South Africa.

Land Tenure Working Paper 11. This co-publication of FAO and UN-HABITAT seeks to better understand and define the processes, mechanisms and institutions of governance of tenure in rural and urban areas. The paper recognises that excellent land policies, laws and technical reforms have been developed. However, in many cases their implementation has slipped, stalled or even been reversed. By adopting a governance and political economy perspective, the paper offers insights for the design of reforms and for the development of land governance tools.
