The Gender in Agriculture Sourcebook provides an up-to-date understanding of gender issues and a rich compilation of compelling evidence of good practices and lessons learned to guide practitioners in integrating gender dimensions into agricultural projects and programs. This report is based on the proceedings of the Technical Consultation on Gender, Property Rights and Livelihoods in the Era of AIDS, organized by FAO in November 2008. It takes stock of where FAO and its partners are in terms of addressing property rights insecurity and provides a proposed framework through which future action can take place.

A FAO mission visited Uttar Pradesh India to carry out a MASSCOTE training workshop in Sultanpur Uttar Pradesh from 7th to 19 December 2007 as part of a collaborative program between the Government of Uttar Pradesh and FAO. This mission is the first MASSCOTE exercise organised by FAO for GOUP, other two studies are planned as part of the FAO-GOUP collaborative activities aiming at developing the capacity in modernization of irrigation management.

This paper explains the operation methods in canal irrigation delivery systems using the MASSCOTE approach. It argues that on-farm irrigation scheduling is only possible when the delivery system provides the irrigation water at the expected time, rate and duration.
