The Lieutenant Governor in Council may make Regulations for the purpose of prohibiting, annulling or in any manner restricting the taking or acquisition directly or indirectly of, or the succession to, any interest in controlled land (as defined), provided that they do not operate so as to prohibit, annul or in any manner restrict the ownership by a person of interests in controlled land consisting of not more than 2 parcels containing, in the aggregate, not more than 20 acres.
This Act consists of 44 sections divided into 3 Parts. It regulates livestock and agricultural operations. It includes regulations for spreading manure or compost for all livestock operations in Alberta. The manure spreading regulations include requirements for manure incorporation, soil nitrogen and salinity limits, setback distances, record keeping and soil testing. The Natural Resources Conservation Board is responsible for the inspection, approval and authorization of livestock operations (for example seasonal feeding and bedding sites) and manure application.
This Act establishes the Agricultural Service Board and regulates its activities. Functions of the Board are (a) to act as an advisory body and to assist the council (i.e. the council of a municipal district or specialized municipality) and the Minister (i.e.
The purpose of this Act is, inter alia, to provide a means by which the Government can give direction and provide leadership in identifying the objectives of the Province of Alberta, including economic, environmental and social objectives. The present Act provides protection for both parties under a lease or agreement for sale for land where payment is made with the crops grown on said land. In particular, the Act operates when, pursuant to a lease, sale, or first mortgage on a piece of land, there is provision made to pay the rent, purchase money, or mortgage money either in whole or part with crops grown on that land. The maximum amount of any lien or charge which may be charged as a result of the transaction is one third of the value of the crop.
The present Act lays down rules relating to expropriation in the province of Alberta. It applies to any expropriation authorized by the law of Alberta and prevails over any contrary provisions that may be found in the law, except the statutes enumerated in the Schedule.
This Act and the regulations apply to all land within the boundaries of any forest reserves established pursuant to this Act. "Forest reserves" is all land described in the appendix to the agreement set forth in the Schedule to chapter 20 of the Statutes of Alberta, 1948, and to chapter 59 of the Statutes of Canada, 1947. All forest reserves within Alberta are set apart and established for the conservation of the forests and other vegetation in the forests and for the maintenance of conditions favourable to an optimum water supply.
The present Act was created to provide a clear process for property owners when government needs to plan for long-term, large-scale transportation projects (like ring roads or water reservoirs). The legislation ensures landowners are consulted and fairly compensated, and gives property owners choices and options respecting their land.
An Alberta land surveyor, surveyor's corporation or surveyor's partnership may engage in the practice of surveying. "Alberta land surveyor" means an individual who holds a certificate of registration and an annual certificate to engage in the practice of surveying under this Act. The Alberta Land Surveyors' Association is continued as a corporation. The Association shall be governed by a Council. The Council may appoint a Registrar for the purposes of this Act. In addition, there is hereby established a board called the Practice Review Board.
