From November 19 to 21, 2014, some of the world’s most noted specialists on forest landscape restoration gathered in Rio de Janeiro to assess Natural Regeneration as a cost-effective strategy to achieve large-scale restoration throughout the world. Natural regeneration consists, in its most basic form, of letting remaining portions of the original ecosystem re-colonize a degraded area.
The Netherlands became an FAO member in 1945, and has since been a valuable resource partner on multiple FAO projects and programmes. The Netherlands shares FAO’s continued interest in developing programmes for the financial inclusion of family farmers, especially women, by treating them as entrepreneurs and promoting their access to better credit and resilience. This new book looks at the application of “Save and Grow” practices and technologies to production of the world’s key food security crops – maize, rice and wheat.
This guide has been developed in response to concerns regarding large-scale land acquisitions and the need to increase investment in agriculture. The guide supports application of the <a href="www.fao.org/3/a-i2801e.pdf"><i> Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure for Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security</i></a> at the national level by providing technical guidance on how to safeguard tenure rights in the context of agricultural investments, including in land.
Based on a broad literature review, this publication discusses rural women’s time poverty in agriculture, elaborates on its possible causes and implications and provides insight into the various types of constraints that affect the adoption of solutions for reducing work burden. This paper raises questions about the adequacy of women’s access to technologies, services and infrastructure and about the control women have over their time, given their major contributions to agriculture.

Hace más de tres décadas se abrió la primera oficina en Malabo para atender los temas de la FAO en Guinea Ecuatorial. El 20 de junio de 2013 se estableció oficialmente la Oficina de Enlace y Partenariado y se nombró al primer Representante de la FAO en el país.
