The Ordinance provides for the institution of the Chittagong City Corporation, its functions and tasks.
Provisions of this Ordinance amend the Principal Act by: (a) replacing the magistrate in charge with the "Upazila Nirbahi Officer" as being an office elegible to be a Collector in the sense of this Act; (b) changing the rate of interest for compensation and lease under section 8 and section 9, respectively; (c) changing the rate of fees payable to authorized persons under section 17; (d) changing the amount of penalty imposed under section 35.

The objectives pursued by this Agreement are to enhance and develop the various aspects of cooperation between the Contracting Parties in several areas, including among others environmental protection, trade and commercial cooperation, human and animal health.
The Act deals with the transfer of property from an individual to another by means of sale, mortgage (as per point a), lease, exchange (i.e exchanging the property of land with crops) or donation. In this last case, donation must be accepted by the person in the course of the donor’s lifetime. If the recipient dies before having accepted the donation, this shall be considered null.
The Ordinance provides for the institution of a Union Parishad, an elected local Council, in rural areas and furthermore indicates the functions and tasks of these Parishads.The Ordinance further provides for: the internal organization of the Union; functions of Union Parishads; constitution of standing Committees; constitution of a Union Fund; offences and penalties; etc.
The Ordinance provides for the acquisition and requisition of immovable property to be destined to public purposes in the public interest. Acquisition shall be communicated by means of a notice affixed in convenient locations in order to inform of the intent of acquiring that property. Requisition for a limited period of time may be exercised by the appointed Deputy Commissioner, following Government’s approval, while no approval shall be necessary in case of an emergency. No property shall be kept in requisition for a period longer than two years.
