    This report seeks to highlight the potential of FRA, assess its achievements, identify the bottlenecks, and find the ways forward. Its objectives are to:

    Make a quantitative estimate of forest land that has the potential to be recognized as CFR area, and compare it to the actual forest area recognized asCFRs across the country;

    Assess the qualitative potential of FRA for gender equal development, poverty alleviation, climate change and biodiversity conservation;

    To understand more about people’s perceptions of the security of property rights, in India and in the rest of the world, we launched a series of surveys. The first survey was carried out with 14,000 respondents in 14 states across India. We plan to do similar research in other countries, building up to a global survey that will reveal similarities and differences between societies when it comes to people’s perceptions of property rights.

In addition, this paper analyses the rights of displaced under Indian and international laws with special reference to recent states different legislation on land acquisition. The present paper also try to consider the impact on land acquisition on displaced people and identifies loopholes in the existing legal framework and propose certain measure for bringing real development in to the life of displaced people.

    India registered rapid economic growth over the past couple of years, with the GDP growing 7.6 percent in 2015-2016. While economic activity remains buoyant, however, the country still has a long way to go. The government must capitalise on the current economic momentum and use it to accelerate its reform agenda. One of the areas requiring regulatory attention is the property market. Despite a push for reform through the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), India’s current land title system remains plagued with deficiencies.

    Recycling and reuse of treated wastewater are an important part of the sanitation cycle and critical in an environment such as urban India with decreasing freshwater availability and increasing costs for delivering acceptable quality water, often from far distance. This report has been developed as a possible guidance document for the Indian government and gives substantial focus to the financial and economic benefits of wastewater recycling from the perspective of public spending.

    Although the Ganges River Basin (GRB) has abundant water resources, the seasonal monsoon causes a mismatch in water supply and demand, which creates severe water-related challenges for the people living in the basin, the rapidly growing economy and the environment. Addressing these increasing challenges will depend on how people manage the basin’s groundwater resources, on which the reliance will increase further due to limited prospects for additional surface storage development.
