    In this introductory video to the Global Programme Responsible Land Policy answers are given to what it wants to achieve, how it works and why land rights are so important. The Global Programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), co-funded by the European Union and works in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Laos, Madagascar, Peru (completed in 2021), Uganda and Paraguay (completed in 2018).

More recently, cooperation has included a focus on market access and<p></p>agricultural competiveness, with support to smallholders’ transition from subsistence to commercial agriculture.

    Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) is located in the center of Kandy-Colombo-Galle urbanization belt, where it forms the largest Local Authority (LA) of Sri Lanka and one of the oldest in South Asia, established in 1865. Together with 12 other LAs, it forms part of the Colombo district, which is one of three districts (Colombo, Gamapaha and Kalutara) of Sri Lanka’s most populated Western Province, which hosts the largest part of the urbanization belt.

Cooperation has been in line with the country’s successive national<p></p>frameworks, including most recently the 7th National Development Plan, aimed at achieving the Vision 2030 objective of<p></p>transforming Zambia into a middle-income country by 2030.
