Mauritius joined FAO in 1968. In response to the Government’s request to reorganize and strengthen the governance<p></p>framework for agricultural services, the first FAO intervention was carried out in 2011, with follow up in 2014. The aim of such<p></p>institutional changes is to improve the agriculture industry’s regulatory environment so that oversight functions are streamlined<p></p>and new technical realities reflected.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines joined FAO in 1981. Early assistance was delivered through a range of interventions focusing on capacity building, policy formulation, agricultural planning and legislation development. More recently, interventions have addressed food security programmes, technology transfer for improved production and strengthening of market infrastructure. A major feature of current cooperation is resilience building in the face of climate change.

Belarus and FAO have been implementing a number of development programmes to encourage agro-industry growth, rural development and trade facilitation since 2005, when the country became a member of FAO. In providing assistance, FAO is and will be focusing on increasing efforts to prevent the African Swine Fever, to help eliminate obsolete pesticides, to harmonize the standards of quality for agricultural products with the European standards, to develop climate change projects and to provide training to the Belarusian agricultural specialists.

Afghanistan joined FAO in 1949 and has a long history of technical cooperation with the Organization.
