    This Regulation concerns the conservation and reclamation of land with the objective to return the specified land to an equivalent land capability, which means that “the ability of the land to support various land uses after conservation and reclamation is similar to the ability that existed prior to an activity being conducted on the land, but that the individual land uses will not necessarily be identical”.

    This Regulation specifies the conditions and procedures for obtaining compensation for any loss or damage suffered by the owner or occupant of land as a result of a board of trustees exercising its powers under the Drainage Districts Act. The Surface Rights Board is responsible for receiving applications and conducting hearings, it determines the amount of compensation and makes an order to the board of trustees to execute the payment. The Regulation also specifies which are the additional powers of the Surface Rights Board with reference to this matter (sect. 11).

    This Regulation refers to the land measurements in certificates of title and provides for the conversion of measurements expressed in Canadian Units into the International System of Units (sect. 5). The Regulation also authorizes the Registrar to issue new certificates in both measurement systems (sect. 6).

    Under this Regulation, a “name search” means a search of the register for the purpose of determining registered ownership interests, if any, in land of a person registered in the register (sect. 1). The Regulation provides a list of criteria that must be fulfilled before a name search can be carried out by the Registrar.

    These Regulation pertain to the ownership of agricultural and recreational land in Alberta. Under section 4, no ineligible person or foreign controlled corporation shall take or acquire, directly or indirectly, an interest in controlled land – which is land in Alberta but does not include (a)land of the Crown in right of Alberta, (b) land within the boundaries of a city, town, new town, village or summer village, and (c) mines and minerals. The Regulation further specifies which are the percentage of foreign ownership that are allowed (sect. 13).

    This Regulation concerns the “exploration” intended as any operations on or over land or water to determine geologic conditions underlying the surface of land or water, and any operations that are preparatory to or otherwise connected with such activities and that, in the opinion of the Minister of Sustainable Resource Development, have the potential to cause surface disturbance. The Regulation is divided into 7 Parts and contains provisions on the licensing requirements and procedures.

    This Regulation provides for the assessment of land in a drainage district. The board of trustees of each district is responsible for conducting the assessment. Section 5 specifies that the valuation standard of the land is the agricultural use value of the land, regardless of whether the land is being used for farming operations. Section 6 regulates procedures for the addition and removal of land from a district. (11 sections)Each drainage district is governed by a Board of Trustees; the Act contains provisions on the composition and operation of the boards (sect. 14-29).

    "Notice" means a notice referred to in section 4 of the Soil Conservation Act. Section 4 prescribes that if an officer is satisfied that, with respect to land, appropriate measures are not being taken, he shall serve on the landholder a notice directing the landholder to take, within the time specified in the notice, the remedial measures set out in the notice. Where a landholder does not comply with a notice within the period of time specified in the notice an officer or a person authorized by an officer, the officer or autorised person may carry out such matters.
