    The present Regulations are made under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act. For the purpose of the present Regulations “assessable property” means reserve land, an interest in reserve lands or a right to occupy, possess or use reserve lands, that is subject to assessment under a property assessment law. Inspections of such properties shall be carried out in accordance with procedures prescribed in sections 3 to 7 of the present Regulations. The text consists of 8 sections.

    Section 3 of the above-mentioned Act establishes that the Tlicho Land Claims and Self Government Agreement is approved, given effect and declared valid and has the force of law. Section 6 specifies that there shall be paid out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund any sums that are required to meet the monetary obligations of Canada under chapters 9, 18 and 24 to 26 of the Agreement.The text consists of 111 sections.

    The present Act declares valid the Agreement between Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada and the Gwich’in, as represented by the Gwich’in Tribal Council, signed on 12 April 1992. Section 5 establishes that for the purposes of carrying out its objectives, the Renewable Resources Board established by the afore-mentioned Agreement has the capacity,rights, powers and privileges of a natural person.     The present Act ratifies the “Kelowna Accord” and the Government of Canada shall immediately take all measures necessary to implement the terms of the accord, known as the “Kelowna Accord”, that was concluded on 25 November 2005 at Kelowna, British Columbia, by the Prime Minister of Canada, the first ministers of each of the provinces and territories of Canada and the leaders of the Assembly of First Nation the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Metis National Council, the Native Womens’ Association of Canada and the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.     An Act relating to self-government for the Sechelt Indian Band.

    The purposes of the present Act are to enable the Sechelt Indian Band to establish and maintain self-government for itself and its members on Sechelt lands and to obtain control over and the administration of the resources and services available to its members. Section 5 establishes that the Sechelt Indian Band is hereby established to replace the Indian Act Sechelt Band.

These Regulations are project-specific, developed in cooperation with the First Nation and the relevant province, and are limited to the particular lands described in the project.
