    This Act establishes the Urban Development Commission as a body corporate, defines its functions and powers and provides with respect to its organization. The Act also establishes the Urban Enterprise Fund and provides for the appointment of the Director of Urban Development. This Act applies only to land in urban areas that is designated by the Minister under this Act or is vested in the Commission. The Commission shall be instrumental in the development of urban areas and for this purpose may (compulsory) acquire and dispose of land.

    This Act concerns the development of tenantries, i.e. an area of land, including public land, subdivided before a specified date into lots for letting for specified purposes. “Tenantry” does not include land adjoining the foreshore. The Minister may design tenantries for purposes of this Act, but only if there are not sufficient on the tenantry including water supply and sewage disposal. The Act sets out the procedure for the approval of development requests.

    This Act places restrictions on trespass by persons on property. Entry on premises, including vessels and other structures, may be prohibited by notice and entry is prohibited without any notice on premises: (a) consisting of a garden, lawn, field, plantation under cultivation or orchard; or (b) that is enclosed in a manner that indicates the occupier’s intention to keep persons off the premises or to keep animals on the premises. Offences are defined and penalties prescribed

    An Act to make provision respecting the purchase by tenants of agricultural holdings for the purpose of facilitating agricultural development in Barbados.

    This Act prescribes that it shall be a term or condition of every tenancy of an agricultural holding of a plantation specified in the First Schedule to this Act that a qualified tenant may purchase the freehold of that agricultural holding at a price to be agreed upon between the landlord and tenant. “Agricultural holding” is defined by the Security of Tenure of Small Holdings Act. A qualified tenant is a tenant that has been cultivating the holding for a specified number of years. An option to purchase shall be exercised in the form as set out in the Second Schedule to this Act.

    This Act provides for the control of tenantries, i.e. an area of land, including public land, subdivided before a specified date into lots for letting for specified purposes. Division or sale of a tenantry requires the permission of the Chief Town Planner. The Act also places restrictions on an order of ejectment of tenants to be made on application of an owner or lessee of a tenantry and defines powers of court in an ejectment proceeding.

    This Act concerns the imposition of a development charge on the occasion of every transfer of a fee simple of any land in a special development area at any time during a valuation period. A special development area shall be declared by the Minister. The Act provides rules for the assessment of value of land and the calculation of the development duty.

    The 27 sections of this Act are divided into 7 Parts: Preliminary (I); Soil Conservation Board (II); Conservation Orders (III); Powers of the Chief Agricultural Officer (IV); Contributions and compensation (V); Offences (VI); Miscellaneous (VII).The Scotland District Soil Conservation Board is established under section 3. The Board shall advise the Chief Agricultural Officer on the utilisation of lands in the conservation areas described in the First Schedule. The Chief Agricultural Officer may issue Conservation Orders to prevent soil erosion pursuant to section 5.

    The 19 sections of this Act are divided into 6 Parts: Citation and Interpretation (I); Establishment of Land Surveyor's Board (II); Licensing and registration of Land Surveyors (III); Discipline (IV); Appeals (V); Miscellaneous (VI).A Board to be known as the Land Surveyors' Board is established under section 3. Rules laid down in Schedule I apply to the constitution of the Board. The Board shall organize land surveyor examinations, consider applications for land surveyor licences, and institute disciplinary legal proceedings in accordance with provisions 10 to 12 (sect. 5).

    The Act provides for powers of land surveyors to carry out land survey of boundaries of estates and for procedures of such survey, the review of surveys and the inclusion of surveys in survey plans. Notice of land survey shall be given 7 days prior to survey and shall be in the form as set out in the First Schedule. A warrant of land survey shall be issued in a prescribed form by a judge if survey is carried out to establish boundaries of adjoining lands in order to resolve a land dispute (sect. 6).
