    This regulation implements Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Act; (therein referred to the Act ) and has 4 parts. The first part refers to definitions. Part 2 deals with Range Developments. It starts by outlining restrictions on location of range developments in a community watershed as defined in section 41 (8) of the Act.(sec 3). Its further deals with seeding of soil exposed by range developments, (sec 4), and Maintenance of range developments, (sec 5). Part 3 outlines Range Practices.

    "Notice" means a notice referred to in section 4 of the Soil Conservation Act. Section 4 prescribes that if an officer is satisfied that, with respect to land, appropriate measures are not being taken, he shall serve on the landholder a notice directing the landholder to take, within the time specified in the notice, the remedial measures set out in the notice. Where a landholder does not comply with a notice within the period of time specified in the notice an officer or a person authorized by an officer, the officer or autorised person may carry out such matters.

    For the purpose of subsection 124(1) of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act, a regulatory authority or a designated regulatory agency that receives an application for a licence, permit or other authorization required to carry out a proposed development, under a provision of a Federal Act and Regulations or a Northwest Territories Act or Regulations as set out in the Schedules, shall conduct a preliminary screening of the proposed development before the issuance of the licence, permit or authorization.

    These Regulations do not apply to a use of land authorized pursuant to grazing or agricultural leases subsequent to its initial clearing, and to harvesting, hunting, trapping or fishing. Regulation 4 specifies activities on land that are prohibited without having a Type A Permit, whereas regulation 5 lists activities for which a Type B permit is required. No person shall deposit material or debris in a watercourse contrary to the Northwest Territories Waters Act or the Fisheries Act, or any regulations made under those Acts (reg.9).

    The purpose of this Order is to withdraw certain lands from disposal to establish the Aulavik (Banks Island) National Park. Subject to section 4, the lands described in the Schedule are withdrawn from disposal for the period beginning on the date of registration and ending on June 1, 2002.
