On the occasion of FAO Egypt's 40th Anniversary, this booklet is produced to highlight FAO's achievements and support to the Egyptian Government over the past 40 years. It will give a glimpse on how FAO started its work in Egypt and will also highlight the main projects that made a difference as well as shed light on the future country programming framework.
The partnership between FAO and Turkey has thrived since the establishment of the country office in 1982 and the Subregional<p></p>Office for Central Asia in 2007 in Ankara. Through the FAO-Turkey Partnership Programme and FAO-Turkey Forestry Programme,<p></p>cooperation continues to prosper. The country has benefited from wide-ranging assistance from FAO and it is also an active<p></p>resource partner, providing indispensable technical and financial support to FAO activities, particularly within the subregion.
FAO’s current cooperation with the Lao People’s Democratic Republic focuses on fostering agricultural<p></p>production and rural development, improving food security and nutrition, protecting and enhancing<p></p>forests and other ecosystems and improving the capacity to respond to food and agricultural threats<p></p>and emergencies.
The World Soil Day Photo book 2017 presents WSD photographic stories in a visual narrative. This publication recognizes and prizes the efforts of all WSD event organizers worldwide. On 5 December more people than ever celebrated soil, carbon, and the opportunities right under our feet under the slogan “Caring for the Planet starts from the Ground”. Healthy soils are the living, breathing ecosystems that help grow our food, clean our water, store carbon, and reduce risks of droughts and floods.
The Bahamas became an FAO member state in 1975. Cooperation has focused on strategic development and increased competitiveness of the country’s agriculture and fisheries sector, with FAO interventions comprising policy and legislative support, technical development projects and rehabilitation and emergency assistance. As a flat and small island developing state (SIDS), the Bahamas is very vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, which makes resilience building an important element of cooperation today.
The partnership between Indonesia and FAO began with the country’s membership of the Organization in 1948 and<p></p>was strengthened with the opening of a country office in 1978. Over nearly 70 years, hundreds of FAO development and<p></p>emergency programmes have successfully supported the country’s food and agriculture sector, including fisheries and<p></p>forestry.
Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) is located in the center of Kandy-Colombo-Galle urbanization belt, where it forms the largest Local Authority (LA) of Sri Lanka and one of the oldest in South Asia, established in 1865. Together with 12 other LAs, it forms part of the Colombo district, which is one of three districts (Colombo, Gamapaha and Kalutara) of Sri Lanka’s most populated Western Province, which hosts the largest part of the urbanization belt.
Saint Lucia and FAO have partnered since the country joined the organization in 1979. Assistance has been geared towards sustainable agricultural development and food and nutrition security, with a parallel focus on natural resource management. Ranging from national policy support to community-level projects, interventions seek to improve agricultural productivity and local food production as well as income-earning opportunities for rural communities. Other key features of cooperation are disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change.
